Taking a water tank out of service for an extended time is an operational setback you don’t need to endure. CROM’s dive team inspections and remotely operated vehicle tank inspections give you critical data without losing critical production time.

Dive Inspections
Our certified divers and advanced documentation tools provide a practical, proven method of tank inspection and cleaning. Our safety-first approach includes use of surface-supplied air as required by OSHA and AWWA standards, monitoring with a closed-circuit television system, and on-site technical observation.
You’ll get a complete report, including a video record of the interior inspection and photographic record of the exterior inspection. Technical review of the findings and recommendations are signed and sealed by one of CROM’s professional engineers.

Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Inspections
ROV inspections are another option that allows your tank to remain fully operational, saving you the expense of draining and refilling. The ROV will be guided through your tank interior, inspecting sidewalls, roofs, floor, adhesion and paint conditions, while keeping downtime to a minimum. Your detailed report will help you support your tank’s maximum life expectancy.
Tank Cleaning & Wash Outs
CROM provides tank cleanings that include interior washouts and/or exterior pressure washing in accordance with AWWA requirements. Tank cleanings can be performed on a full tank with the assistance of a diver and vacuum.
Disinfection
All storage facilities taken out of service for inspection, painting, tank cleaning, or other activities that could lead to water contamination must be disinfected before they’re returned to service. CROM follows standard disinfection methods as defined by AWWA C652 Chlorination Method 2 (Spray) and Chlorination Method 3 (Fill-Fill).

Passive Cathodic Protection
An inexpensive, efficient method to protect a steel storage tank against further corrosion.
Active Tank Mixing Systems
Keeping water continuously circulating inside your tank helps protect against water aging and stagnation to improve water quality. An active tank mixing system maintains consistent chlorine residuals throughout the tank, reducing biofilm and maintaining consistent water temperatures.
Seasonally, active tank mixers can deter ice formation and stratification, minimizing the potential for bio-film growth and disinfection by-products.
