GAINESVILLE, Fla. – CROM team members came together recently to participate in the community project, HeART Wall, which debuted at Depot Park on Saturday, July 27.
The mosaic, which was led by Sara Hinds, artist in residence for UF Health Shands Art in Medicine, was created by 2,000+ community members to make more than 2,200 hearts.
Hinds received a grant meant to fund a community art project that would combat loneliness post covid. Over the course of six to nine months, Hinds managed to visit 70 classrooms and about 30 community centers where she would guide students through the process of creating their own mosaic heart that would be later added to the wall.
CROM workers volunteered to pressure wash the wall that the mosaic would be mounted to, as well as donated and mounted the framing for the final art piece.
