Shotcrete Applications

From new structures to historic restoration, shotcrete offers the flexibility to go goes where conventional forms can’t

New Concrete Structures

Walls, tanks and structures placed with less formwork than cast-in-place.

Water Infrastructure

Repair and rehabilitation for tanks, reservoirs and treatment structures.

Historical Preservation

Rebuilds deteriorated concrete and masonry while keeping original shapes.

Overhead & Irregular Service Applications

Vertical, overhead and hard-to-reach surfaces where forms aren’t practical.

Architectural & Decorative Designs

Curves and sculpted forms, like the Wave Wall in Steinmetz Hall.

Why Shotcrete?

Shotcrete is the method projecting concrete at high velocity primarily to a vertical or overhead surface. The impact created by the application consolidates the concrete.

Although the hardened properties of shotcrete are similar to those of conventional cast-in-place concrete, the placement process results in an excellent bond with most substrates, particularly on complex forms or shapes. The shotcrete process requires less formwork and can be more economical than conventionally placed concrete.

Superior Adhesion

Creates an excellent bond with most substrates.

Design Versatility

Perfect for complex forms, curves, and unusual shapes.

Cost & Time Efficient

Often more economical than conventionally placed concrete.

Our Shotcrete Capabilities

CROM wet-mix shotcrete process

Wet Mix

The wet-mix shotcrete process mixes all ingredients, including water, before introduction into the delivery hose.

It’s often chosen for new construction where pre-batched materials are delivered to the site in ready-mix trucks to provide high-volume coverage.

CROM’s specialty shotcrete applications dry mix processes

Dry Mix

With Dry-mix shotcrete, (commonly called “gunite”), water is introduced to the cement and aggregate at the nozzle then projected at high velocity to the desired location.

Suitable for new construction and repairs, it’s especially useful for curved and thin elements (ACI 506R), tight areas with limited access, and structures that need a higher degree of detail.

Architectural

Shotcrete enhances our ability to create beautiful structures without costly forms, such as the distinctive curved “Wave Wall” inside Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, Florida.

CROM’s design/build approach with in-house engineering and custom-built equipment allows us to offer unparalleled value for unique projects.
