The Crom Corporation employs Professional Engineers and construction craftsmen dedicated to designing and building watertight prestressed concrete tanks. Because the company's personnel specialize in only one area of construction, the high risk often associated with building a watertight tank is overcome. It is because of its employees that the company is held in such high regard in the water and wastewater industry.
The Company currently has on its staff sixteen registered Professional Engineers. These engineers provide Crom's customers with vast experience in the design and construction of prestressed concrete tanks. Building watertight liquid containment vessels that will outperform all other tank products available is their common professional goal. Every tank's design calculations and drawings are checked and signed by a minimum of two in-house Professional Engineers to ensure structural integrity and durability. In order to provide our engineers with practical hands-on experience in the design and construction of prestressed concrete tanks, each engineer with The Crom Corporation is required to participate in an extensive field training program that culminates in the personal supervision of one complete tank construction project.
The Crom Corporation is committed to providing highly qualified and professional field supervision. We currently employ thirty active superintendents. Most of our superintendents have over 20 years of experience building watertight tanks. Each superintendent has assembled his own team of tank construction craftsmen that make certain each tank is constructed to the proper specifications and the highest quality. Many of Crom's superintendents have been promoted from within, through an extensive craftsman training program. In addition to promotion from within, Crom actively seeks new superintendents from outside the company. Each new superintendent must complete a rigorous training program. This program requires that a superintendent spend extensive time with senior field supervisors learning tank construction techniques. During this phase each potential superintendent must pass all tests required for the craftsman training program, plus a final superintendent exam. In addition, each candidate must be recommended for advancement by the senior superintendent training the individual.
A hallmark of The Crom Corporation is the high standard of quality workmanship. The company, over a period of many years, has thoroughly trained over 500 craftsmen. Unlike work in other fields, construction of a water storage tank is critical in that leakage cannot be tolerated. This requirement dictates that each person in the field be trained to observe construction activities and be able to correct any deficiencies if spotted. Field employees are trained from day one and promoted in the following classifications:
Office and Job Servicing Staff
- Certified Tankbuilder
- Certified Shotcrete Nozzleman (In accordance with ACI Publication CP-60
- Senior Tankbuilder
- Senior Shotcrete Nozzleman
- Tankbuilder Foreman
- Shotcrete Foreman
Another key contribution to the success of The Crom Corporation is the support provided by the home office and job servicing facilities. The personnel assigned to these locations provide all support activities that allow our field crews to efficiently build tanks. Specifically, these support services include:
All told, it takes a true team of professionals to deliver superb services to a large geographical area with many diverse projects. So when our clients decide to build a Crom tank they are procuring a partnership with knowledgeable professionals dedicated to the highest quality of workmanship concerning the tank's watertightness, appearance, longevity, and dimensional accuracy.
